Continue following the red-blazes and after hiking for 0.5 mile, bear left to stay on the red-blazed Red Gate Trail as the blue-blazed trail heads right. just passed this you’ve made it to the top of the mountain, where there’s an enormous visitor center. you’ll know you’ve almost made it to the summit when you see a structure with a barbed wire fence and satellite device emitting a strange frequency. if you are seeking to immerse yourself in nature’s solace at the top as a reward for making the difficult trek out of civilization you will not find it here. Mountains like Huntingtons Camels Hump, Stowes Mount Mansfield and Arlingtons Mount Equinox are popular winter hikes, offering spectacularly snowy summit. It starts by sending you directly vertical up the mountain and only gets steeper from there.
